This November 23th, during Thanksgiving’s weekend, Disney’s Moana opens at theaters. Moana has been my 2nd movie at Walt Disney Animation Studios, and during one year, I had the privilege of working on this stunning 3d animated film and being involved, among others, on the creation of Teka (the lava monster) and some of Maui’s transformations such as the hawk and the bug. Again, the amazing team at Disney raised the bar with this beautiful movie!
In case you haven’t seen anything yet, I’ve collected here some Moana’s trailers and videos. I hope you enjoy the movie as I did, so go to watch it!!
For thousands of years, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific Ocean, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, two thousand years ago, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one today knows exactly why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
“Moana” directors Ron Clements and John Musker made their writing-directing debut on the 1986 feature “The Great Mouse Detective.” They went on to write and direct beloved Disney classics, including the undersea adventure “The Little Mermaid” in 1989, the hilarious hit “Aladdin” in 1992, 1997’s epic comedy “Hercules,” “Treasure Planet” in 2002, and most recently, 2009’s “The Princess and the Frog.”
